MOVFitness – Facebook for Fitness

Posted by krashnik On October - 12 - 2009

Site Revamp
We’ve completely revamped the entire MOVFitness website which is the largest overhaul it’s had since we started the company. Instead of just offering personal training and a variety of fitness services, we now have what I call Facebook for Fitness. You can log into our site, post up your pictures, add info to your profile, and check out fitness events in your area. Sounds like everything else on social networking, right? Well… we have a unique concept added where you get a free copy of my Fire Within book just for logging into the site.
Online Classroom

There is a classroom section that you can download the book from after you become a member. If you read the book and pass a test on it, then you’ll receive a “Health Badge.” This badge will show up on your profile for others to see & they’ll know that you are furthering your education in health & fitness. Once you pass that test, other classes will become unlocked. Want to learn ballroom dancing, boxing, or use our nutrition software? Once you pass your first test, you get access to an introduction to all of these. The more tests you pass, the more classes will become unlocked for you. Once you have passed 12 of our dance classes, you’ll receive the Twinkle Toes badge just as one example.

In addition to this, you can write in an online journal and keep track of your weight loss, or use it to have your favorite recipes, or maybe just tell your buddies how much fun you’re having in your new workout routine. You’ll have access to all your friends fitness journals and even be able to see personal trainer profiles.

Interact with Trainers

The trainers have a different style of profile and they publish articles on the site for everyone to view. If you have questions about health & fitness you’ll not only get access to all of our tutorials, but you’ll be able to see the tips trainers provide on their page.  If you have a specific trainer you like, simply save them as a favorite & their journals will show up on your profile automatically when you log in.  In the Discussion section of the site, feel free to ask any question about health & fitness and see a number of trainers provide feedback all for free.

Special Guests & Celebrities

WIth MOVFitness training top professional athletes, models, and CEOs and having some of the best trainers around the world on our staff, we will also have open chats periodically where you can log into a chatroom and speak with a celebrity on health & fitness.

As a trainer for years I’ve found the #1 success seen in someone’s health & fitness comes when they surround themselves with friends who have like-minded goals.  At the new MOVFitness website, we’re offering people to interact and meet new friends who are interested in getting in the best shape of their life and helping them connect with others who they won’t feel ashamed to go out to a party with & drink a glass of water.  The cool factor at MOV is in how many Healthy Badges you have and how much you take care of your health.

I hope you’ll join us and Get on the MOVE!!

Evergreen Energy

Posted by krashnik On March - 25 - 2009

Well, I gotta say, it’s nice to be right. In this facade of a falling economy, smart businesses continue to excel. Evergreen Energy, Inc. is one of those companies. Back in November, I recommended investing in this stock when it was less than 40 cents per share. Jump forward 4 months and you’ll see it now closing around $1.50 – over a 400% gain!

So now what do I recommend? You know, this stock was at $20/share back in late 2005 and I don’t think we’ll see that price anytime soon, but $5 a share by the end of the year wouldn’t surprise me. Top executives continuing to buy their own stock and further progression with deals in Asia could lead this stock into a continued upward spiral.

Any business helping with alternative energy, such as Evergreen Energy has a lot of potential. What will really set this apart from the others is their ability to follow through with future development and continue to invest in their own company. Both these qualities will result in a strong foundation to regrow the business and get a step ahead in today’s economy.

10 Weeks to Skinny

Posted by krashnik On March - 14 - 2009

I’m glad to say that I’ve made some progress on my upcoming cookbook, 10 Weeks to Skinny. I’m excited to offer this to potential runners.  It’s not exactly a cookbook, but not exactly a diet book, either.  A very interesting twist that teaches people how to properly meal plan, exercise, and even has over 30 recipes in it.

The book is designed for people who never have ran and taking them on a journey much like I would if I were their personal trainer.  Think of this as a couch to 5k program all in book form.  For those who have already been runners their entire lives, the book is still very valuable.  I train much different than most running coaches & I’d recommend they start the meal plan from week 3.  By week 10, the book is training you like an olympic athlete, so it is really catered to just about any crowd – you just want to pick it up in different places depending on your own level of progress.

To see more on the book check out the new website: 10 Weeks to Skinny

Swords & Figure 8

Posted by krashnik On February - 3 - 2009

Well, I’m at it again.  Designing a DVD catered to the sword fighting crowd this time.  I’m excited to collaborate with some great personalities on this project to bring sword fighting to the acting & dancing crowd.  The beautiful lines found in dance can correlate with the movements seen in sword fighting.  With my background in martial arts and dancing, I have blended the two for an easy to learn experience that is choreographed and broken down into 8 counts, much like you would see in dance instruction.

This is great cross training for dancers and we have a number of talented models who have trained for months to bring a great performance to the screen.  I’m still interested in getting more models on scene and I also plan on filming a sequel with more advanced movements – so please get in touch if you oare interested in learning the art of sword fighting.

Most movie actors concentrate so much on dialogue that they don’t really get to do much with a sword – even in big fight scene movies such as Star Wars or Kill Bill.  This means most actors spend less than 100 hours of training on swordfighting to create those incredible movies.  And what do we remember them for? The fight scenes.  With this in mind, you too can learn to fight just like the scenes you see in the greatest sword movies of all time with this first edition of Sword Fighting by myself with MOVFitness.

The cool thing about much of what I’ve learned over the years is how everything is so integrated.  This DVD features much footwork very similary to the Tango.  The lines created and the alignment principles found in sword fighting can be seen in yoga and dance poses alike.  It’s amazing how you can take proper alignment in one art and directly relate it to many other forms.

The Figure 8

Another DVD in the works, The Figure 8, teaches many of the basic principles in self defense.  The figure 8 pattern can be see in a number of arts, whether it is self defense, dancing, sword fighting, or even astronomy.  Many people look at an arm moving and they see just a glimpse of what is really happening.  This DVD shows us the bigger picture to movement overall and how we can manipulate and control that movement to our advantage.

As a swordsman, ballroom dancer, martial artist, boxer, and many more, I have used this technique to quickly learn many different sports and excel beyond the best of the best.

The concept of a continuing figure 8 is taught in a variety of mediums so the viewer can understand the movement and transition all areas of their life into figure 8 movements.  A revolutionary look at fitness and body movement, The Figure 8, is a new exciting project I’m about to publish.

I am also working with Veronika Petra on a HoopDance DVD and will be designing an entirely new boxing series for personal trainers.  All this and more in 2009 – check back with me if you’re interested in buying these later & we need models right now to film!

Thanks & God Bless – Matt Hackney

Ballroom Yoga

Posted by krashnik On January - 30 - 2009

One DVD for 2009 is complete with MOVFitness.  Ballroom Yoga: Alignment & Technique for Ballroom Dancers was just filmed this week with MOVFitness instructor Christina Castelanelli.  This DVD introduces a sequence of Anusara poses to ballroom dancers and helps them understand and develop better alignment while in dips and frame.

Filmed in picturesque Santa Barbara with the American Riveria and the Pacific Ocean as backdrops, MOVFitness is known for bringing beautiful fitness videos where proceeds benefit local charties.

I am glad to have the opportunity to work with Christina on this project.  As a ballroom coach for years, it has always been a concern to me when working with professional dancers that they don’t have proper alignment.  Practicing this series can give a dancer confidence that they can be streamlined while in correct form.  I’m excited to be a part of this project and hope it is accepted well among the ballroom dancing community.

Donkey Business

Posted by krashnik On August - 27 - 2008

My latest book!  There are so many things in the world of fitness and nutrition that you would be so surprised by.  The fact that no Americans ever hear of Stevia, Donkey Milk, aspartame, psychological food colors, and an assortment of other secrets amazes me.

Big business and our government tries to hide these facts, but when you own a publishing company, you can write whatever you want.  This book is my opinion on those big businesses, what they are trying to hide, and how you can better your health without them.

More Spiraling Up

Posted by krashnik On August - 22 - 2008

As the year closes in, I just wanted to recap on our current projects.

We have a star wars like Sword Fighting routine being put together. I wish I had some footage or pictures to share to give you an idea of how big this project is. I guess for now you can check this out.

We have a few more books we’re working on. No, I’m not crazy – we have a whole team working on these. There is no way I could possibly do all this on my own. Thanks so much to Amelia, Kim, Natalie, Brandi, Kyle, Margaret, Jasmine, Genevieve, and Jessica. Hmm.. maybe Wilson, too.

Here’es our latest book – The Summit of Success.
This book is designed for personal trainers or anyone who is trying to coach another to success. After being a trainer, coach, mentor for years – we’ve compiled many tactics to help people train better.

Genevieve is in charge of this project and we will be working with some local high schools on an art competition for the interior drawings. Good luck to those high school students who are in the contest! I look forward to reviewing their submissions for some wacky, cool cartoons to keep you entertained when reading this information.

Published!

If you ever wanted to know the fastest way to getting your book on the shelves in your local bookstore, this is the book for you. To get my first book published, I researched for over a year to figure out all the secrets in here.

I wish there were a course at college for upcoming authors. With our internship program at UCSB, we are able to secure some strong literary candidates, but nobody who knows anything about publishing. This is sad to see our graduates don’t have a clue about the publishing industry at all.

With quick wit and a few hours of tutoring, they are able to learn all of this and apply the years of literary critique. Though, it would be nice to see colleges offering courses for upcoming authors. In my own research, I read many scams and documents claiming quick fame that simply weren’t true. I’ll be working more with UCSB to refine their current english program in hopes that our future interns will already have a grasp of the basics in publishing so we can tackle projects in more depth.

Fall Fitness

Posted by krashnik On August - 8 - 2008

Well, another day passes and fall is getting close. We have some exciting new projects going on and I just thought I’d let you know about them.

We are publishing a book by Eric Frimpong on his autobiography. There is much to be done here, but the proceeds will benefit a program we started called Water 4 Africa. If you don’t know, Eric is in State Prison for 5 more years after being convicted of rape. I’ve personally worked with Eric as he is a nationally ranked soccer champion. I personally feel his story should be heard & his family should be helped.

Another project in the area started by my company is Dancing Kids. One of my clients gave me the idea about a year ago and I wish I could get in touch with her to let her know we are actually carrying it out. We will be going into the minority and low-income schools across the city to teach dancing as an alternative to other extracurricular activities that might take them down a path unwanted by anyone in society. When I learned to dance, it was at a cost of $140 per lesson – something that many families just can’t afford. I believe the joy of dancing should be free to all & I really hope America takes up this craze with the same popularity you find in Europe.

Lastly on the charity train is our new bootcamp program. We are now offering our bootcamps free of charge to anyone in the community. I’m really excited about this and hope it will open the eyes of many who couldn’t afford personal training before. Our program is more of a classroom and education than just a bootcamp. I will run the program through the end of October and market it to see how well it goes. I really hope you guys can come & recommend it to your friends. There is no hidden fees, just a fun class like we’ve always taught.

After a long battle, my book is finally in stores across the nation. It is exciting to see it displayed so I took a picture. Some stores are a little slower to shelf it than others, but I went around all the Santa Barbara stores and it is there! You should support your local bookstores like Chaucer & Paradise Found and buy your copies there.

In publishing, we are ready to take on new authors who would like to get published. We have a contest we will start soon for authors in the fitness industry who would like to get their work published. Submit your proposal or manuscripts and we will look it over. I’ll post up more details on the contest in time to come.

I think this is everything? We are still working on a variety of books which you can check out here: http://www.movfitness.com/books.php

If you are interested in our bootcamp program, send me a message. As always, we have personal training available, too which I think everyone should partake in :)

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Yours in health,

Matt Hackney

Internship Program

Posted by krashnik On June - 12 - 2008

With MOVFitness about 18 months old, I have to say I’m impressed with where we’re going.  I now have a strong internship program built with UCSB and am recruiting some great students.  I hope to move forward with this program in the future and actually mold how they are teaching their students.  In time, it would be beneficial if they could train the students in what trainers need to know instead of just where all the bones are in the body & how to test for body fat.

It’s a learning process for both parties & I’m happy to report that the summer of 2008 looks very promising.  I will be making new video tutorials to better assist the interns in their learning.  I already have quite a few on a backdoor training page.  It is amazing how much I have molded and shaped these students lives in just 3 months.  Also, seeing so many clients have the same problem over and over really opens their eyes to how easy it is to get in shape when you fix your foundation.

I’m looking into other schools and trying to get an internship started at UCLA as well.  Once this is established, our LA Market should do better.  I hope to recruit a few for the 2008-9 schoolyear and take care of all the clients in Santa Monica that keep asking for trainers (which we currently don’t have).

New Books

Posted by krashnik On June - 12 - 2008

I have a few new books that I’m working on.  You can check out Hardmagic.com for more details.

Brandi Davis is working on a new cookbook titled “How To Cheat”.  I’m excited to offer that to clients – a way to lose weight without losing chocolate.

H. Scott Hackney is releasing a poetry book, Lines on the Road.  This book is very close to publication and we should see it within the next 2 months.

Eric Frimpong is writing an autobiography.  Such an extraordinary journey across the world from Africa, to the soccer championship in 2006 with the UCSB team, and now to state prison in California.  Eric has had a unique adventure and this story shows how he has been guided by the Lord during his journey.

I am personally writing a new book titled The Leaf of Life.  This book is comprised of many different perspectives in the health industry to collectively give trainers & professionals a well-rounded look at how we should take care of our bodies.  I am taking my time with this book, so I don’t have a release date yet.  Besides, you see all my other projects, so you can imagine my hands are full!
